Hermine Haselböck is an Austrian mezzo-soprano renowned for her versatility and her extensive repertoire ranging from Baroque to contemporary music, encompassing song, concert and opera.
Her international recital and concert appearances have taken her to major venues such as Carnegie Hall (New York), the Vienna Konzerthaus, the Musikverein Vienna, the Mozarteum Salzburg, the Gewandhaus Leipzig, the Frauenkirche Dresden, the Philharmonie am Gasteig Munich, the Bing Theater Los Angeles and the Teatro San Carlo in Naples.
Her operatic repertoire includes roles such as Ramiro (La finta giardiniera – New National Opera Tokyo), Hänsel (Hänsel und Gretel – Vienna Volksoper), Dorabella (Così fan tutte – Concertgebouw Amsterdam), Second Lady (Die Zauberflöte – Theater an der Wien and Grand Théâtre de Luxembourg), Mercedes (Carmen), Odetta (Adelia), Ernesto (Il mondo della luna), Magdalene (Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg), Third Maid (Elektra – Baden-Baden), Floßhilde (Das Rheingold – Rome), Brangäne (Tristan und Isolde), Mother (Hänsel und Gretel – Opera Graz), Azucena (Il trovatore) and Fricka (Das Rheingold and Die Walküre at the Tiroler Festspiele Erl).
She has collaborated with distinguished conductors including Bertrand de Billy, Vladimir Fedosejev, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Karen Kamensek, Gustav Kuhn, Fabio Luisi, Kirill Petrenko, Christian Thielemann, Franz Welser-Möst and Jaap van Zweden, and has appeared with leading orchestras throughout Europe, Asia and the United States.
Her discography includes numerous radio recordings as well as award-winning CDs featuring works by Zemlinsky, Schreker and Mahler (Bridge Records), Donizetti’s Adelia (Sony BMG), Beethoven’s Missa solemnis and Symphony No. 9 (Col Legno), Mahler’s Das Lied von der Erde (CAvi), Schubert’s Masses in E-flat and A-flat major (ORF), Schulhoff’s Die Flammen (ORF) and Strauss’ Elektra on DVD (Unitel). Her solo recordings have received the Pasticcio Prize (ORF Ö1), the Alexander Zemlinsky Promotion Award and the Supersonic Award of Pizzicato.
Hermine Haselböck is Full Professor of Voice and Head of the Voice Department at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz. Her current focus lies on vocal pedagogy and the education of young singers, and she regularly serves on juries of national and international singing competitions.
