RECITAL WITH MAHLER SONGS IN WASHINGTON DC (7.1.2008) www.allartsreview4u.com 8.1.2008 - Bob Anthony Hermine Haselbock presented a most moving interpretation of Gustav Mahler's compositions in a three part musical program assisted by pianist Russell Ryan at the Austrian Embassy ... Her vocal strength and beauty blossomed with the "Songs of a Traveling Journeyman" ... Her pleading quality particularly in her smooth upper register was "honeyed". Such wonderful purity of sound for such a dramatic soprano is rare. Such phrases like "...the happiness I mean can never bloom" were interpretive gems ...Ms. Haselbock returned for two encores ("Freuhlingsmorgen" and "Scheiden und Meiden") after standing ovations to present a couple of frothy lieder to leave the audience in a overtly happy mood."
